PLC or DCS?

It used to be pretty easy.  If the solution was heavily discrete, and high speed - you used a PLC. If there were thousands of analog loops in a continuous or highly complex batch application - you used a DCS.  Now there are many more options. PLC's, Process PLC's, Small DCS and Large DCS - and each has strengths and weaknesses for any specific application.

To help automation experts select the right platform for the application, ABB has created a
quick 14 question survey to help choose the best automation platform for the application.  When finished with this insightful 3-4 minute survey you will receive a custom report based on your specific application needs detailing which type of control system is right for you.

Please complete the survey below, to receive your custom report.  When you are finished, you will be asked for your contact information and your report will be emailed to you.

1) How many I/O does your system need to support?
Less than 500 I/O
Between 500 and 2500 I/O
Over 2500 I/O

2) How many analog outputs are required?
<20
21-100 analog outputs
100-250 analog outputs
>250 analog outputs

3) What is the scan time of your program,  or acceptable loop scan time your application requires?
Less than 100ms loops
Greater than 100ms loops

4) If this is a  sequential or batch application, please indicate the level of complexity.
1-10 recipes, parameters, common equipment
>10 recipes with multiple trains, equipment arbitration, and/or recipe management requirements
